Dear Guest!
In mid nineties, some of us conceived the idea of
setting up an engineering college at Haldia, hither to be known as a
throbbing industrial township in the eastern part of the India. The idea
was to build an educational base here, to support the need of the
industry and the society. As thoughts were being transformed from hopes
to realty, we looked beyond the local interests. We wanted a technical
Institute which would meet the aspirations of the youth at large, their
emerging consciousness about globalization and technology trend. Our aim
was also to extend the scope of technical education beyond the urban
limit and give equal opportunities to the rural youth who were socially
and economically handicapped.
The institute took birth in the year 1996 and today within a span of
only a decade, Haldia Institute of Technology has established its Brand
Image in the educational society. A sapling, planted with care is a
flowering tree today. It has started bearing fruits. The students, the
academia, the parents, the sympathizers, the statutory bodies, the
industries and the people in this region – all have taken part
selflessly to make our institute a true center for education, research
and excellence. I extend my sincere gratitude to all of them.
It is my privilege to express my deep satisfaction over the publication
of this prospectus of Haldia Institute of Technology of the academic
year 2009 -10. The brochure has highlighted the infrastructural,
academic and other facilities of the institute. I am sure, like all the
previous years, this year too ambitious students will join the institute
to pursue an educational career, which will provide them a dignified
position in the society / globalized world.
